1. Overview
Picsora is an AI-powered event photo platform. Guests use the Picsora app to join events, discover their photos using facial recognition, and save or share them. Photographers and studios manage events and upload photos via a separate web dashboard.
This Privacy Policy applies to the Picsora mobile application ("App") and our website at picsora.in (collectively, the "Services"). It explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Important: Picsora uses AI facial recognition to match you with your event photos. This involves collecting and processing biometric data. Please read Section 3 - Biometric Data carefully before using the App.
By creating an account or using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of your information as described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you register, we collect:
- Phone number - your primary identifier, used for OTP login.
- Name - optionally provided in your profile.
- Email address - optionally provided for account communications.
2.2 Face Profile (Biometric Data)
To enable AI photo matching, you may voluntarily upload selfie photos to create a Face Profile. We process these to extract a face embedding (a mathematical vector of your facial geometry). See Section 3 for full details.
2.3 Device Permissions
The App requests the following device permissions:
- Camera - used only when you choose to capture a selfie for your Face Profile. The App does not access the camera at any other time.
- Photo Library / Gallery - used only when you save an event photo to your device or pick a selfie from your gallery. We do not read or upload your existing photos.
2.4 Event Photos
When you join an event and browse photos, the photos are served from our secure cloud storage. Photos you choose to save are stored locally on your device. Photos you choose to share are passed to your device's native share sheet - we do not control or retain the recipient or destination of shares you initiate.

3. Biometric Data
Biometric Data Notice: Picsora collects and processes facial geometry data (face embeddings). This section explains exactly how this data is handled.
3.1 What We Collect
When you create a Face Profile, we process your selfie photo(s) using our AI model (InsightFace ArcFace) to generate a numerical face embedding - a mathematical representation of your facial features. We store:
- Your original selfie image(s).
- The derived face embedding vector used for matching.
3.2 Purpose
Face embeddings are used solely to match you with your photos at events you attend. Your embedding is compared against faces detected in uploaded event photos to surface only your photos to you.
3.3 Voluntary
Creating a Face Profile is entirely optional. You can browse and access event photos by event code without ever creating one.
3.4 Retention
Face embeddings and selfie photos are retained while your account is active. You can delete individual selfies from within the App at any time. All biometric data is permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
3.5 No Sale or Sharing
We do not sell, lease, or share your biometric data. Face embeddings are processed entirely on our own infrastructure - no third-party vendor receives your biometric data.
3.6 Security
Biometric data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest. Access is restricted to backend systems performing face-matching operations only.
4. How We Use Your Data
- Authenticate you via OTP and maintain your session.
- Match you with your event photos using AI facial recognition (with your consent).
- Deliver event photos and albums to you.
- Allow you to save event photos to your device gallery.
- Allow you to share event photos via your device's share sheet.
- Send OTP messages for login via SMS.
- Respond to enquiries and support emails.
- Comply with applicable laws and legal obligations.
6. Data Retention
- Account data: Retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
- Biometric data (face embeddings & selfies): Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
- Event photos: Managed by the studio hosting the event. Photos saved to your device remain on your device under your control.
7. Data Security
We protect your data using:
- TLS 1.2+ encryption for all data in transit.
- Encryption at rest for stored photos and biometric data.
- Role-based access controls limiting access to sensitive data.
- OTP-based authentication with short expiry windows.
No system is completely secure. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
8. Your Rights
8.1 Correction
You can update your name and email in the App's profile settings at any time.
8.2 Deletion
You can delete individual selfies from your Face Profile within the App. To delete your entire account and all associated data, visit our Account Deletion page or go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account in the App.
8.3 Withdraw Biometric Consent
You can withdraw consent for biometric data processing at any time by deleting your Face Profile in the App. This does not affect your ability to browse and access event photos.
8.4 Grievance Redressal (India)
In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA), you may raise a grievance by contacting us:

9. Children's Privacy
Our Services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us at contact@picsora.in and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Services after any update constitutes your acceptance.
